->> John Harrington's book "Best Business Practices for Photographers, Second Edition" is out and is a must read.
I don't have my copy yet, but I don't need to see it to know that if it's been updated and expanded, it's all the more valuable to my business. I read every page and every word of the first edition. Best what-ever-it-costs you will ever spend.

->> As the technical editor for the book, I'm quite partial. But it also means that I've read the whole thing. John has done a fabulous job with the second edition and it's worth getting even if you have the first edition.
As John suggests, pass the first edition on to an up-and-coming photographer.

->> I actually got a surprise today with a copy showing up in the mail. Thank you John.
Though I'm no longer a freelancer I plan on reading it in case that day comes again.
It is advice like this I wish I had when I started my freelance days because I was a lousy businessman coming out of college and starting to shoot assignments. Now I know a lot more about the business-side of things, but still if I had to go out on my own again I need some guidance on getting it all done from a one-man show perspective. |

....If Brad endorses it with that line, it must be good.

->> Dave, you pay the same price as ordering directly from Amazon, but a few pennies trickle down to support our site :-)
Thanks! |

Looks like I'm going to have to get the second one as well.

->> Phil -
Thanks for the shout-out!
Jody - my "ask" of people who have the first edition is to "pay forward" the first edition when you get the second. In fact, write your name and the date on the front cover of the book, and see who passes it to whom.
Sharing the information in the boat truly contributes to the "rising tide raises all ships" effort!

->> John, it would be my pleasure to pay it forward, as long as whomever receives it doesn't mind all the highlighting.
Since you spent so much time on the phone with me about a year about (your help was invaluable, by the way), offering my 1st edition to someone else when I get the new one is the least I can do.
:~)

Thanks for the sentiments! "pay it forward" is what this is all about, and your highlights will be guidance for whomever is the beneficiary. Be sure to convey that same sentiment to the recipient. Further, you'll be able to re-read the book with a fresh highlighter to refresh your memory on the points, as well as learn more with the 150+ additional pages of content and information.
If you're curious about all the changes, visit my blog at http://www.PhotoBusinessNews.com for the details. Meanwhile, you'll see quotes from some of the notable folks who had an advance preview of the book!
