Technology is Awesome!

->> I was downtown tonight after an assignment at the farmer's market and was walking back to my car when I stopped to shoot a few feature photos for a weekly section I have in the paper.

Granted I'm holding a D700 with an 85 f/1.4, the conversation went like this:

(around dusk, ISO 800 outside-ish)

A woman: "Getting a bit dark to shoot, huh?"

Me (changing lenses): "Um, no, not really..."

Woman's boyfriend (cutting me off): "Yeah, he's got a whole bag of tricks there. No more pushing film!"

Amazing. It made my night.

->> Agreed-

I shot night men's soccer for the first time in a while, and I am convinced that the lighting got worse at the Boston University field. I had a 5D Mark II with me and shot most of the game at ISO 4000 or 5000 with a 400 f/2.8 and had images that I printed 17x22" with good detail.

It's a far cry from my 1D's that I used for two years, and even that is something compared to pushing Tri-X or using Neopan 1600.

The D700/D3/5D2 are absolutely incredible machines.

->> Don't forget, also those were the days we also shot everything with Manual focus. *gasp*, so it was an art doing that combined with our developing tricks and hand printing. That was when photography was a craft.
(knee slap), "Why these kids today don't know how easy they've got it."

->> I don't miss making prints LOL. I had brown spots on a few of my shirts. I tried to wear the "ruined" shirts when I knew I would be in the darkroom but that didn't always work out.
