->> wow what an interesting league. Not going to lie and say I wouldn't go if I lived near a team lol
But seriously, they could have some serious costume malfunctions! That right there could make it very interesting.
Larry Smith's last image kinda shows what could happen lol |

->> I saw this league on a post from one of the Chicago area shooters (speak up if it was you, my memory fails me) a couple of weeks ago. Mike Ditka is part owner of one team.
I immediately thought that this league alone could save the financial butts of a lot of publicly owned civic center arenas that are in the red and have taxpayers seeing red.
Yes, there was at least one photo posted that was a major wardrobe malfunction in that members gallery.
Yes, I would shoot the league
While I might spec it, there is no way I would give up my copyright or license the images for next to nothing. |

Larry W, tell me if I am wrong, but attendance at the game was skimpier then the uniforms the "players" were wearing. |

Mr. Martin is right on. |

But seriously, I feel bad for anyone that has so little sense of humor left that they can't have a little fun now and then and just appreciate it for what it is. |

Guess we should all just go back to more "the sky is falling" conversations.
I didn't realize I had to be politically correct about a subject that couldn't be farther from politically correct. |

->> " blatantly sexist commentary"
This whole venture is based on blatantly "sexist" proclivities. The word sexist in quotes because I'm not sure finding attractive women in lingerie pleasing to watch makes me a sexist. If a gay man is watching the NFL to see the players butts, Is he sexist? This "league" elicits the exact kind of response they are looking for.
I'm sure there are some that would Claim "sexism" if this league is not covered by the press just like the NFL. |

Watch the video that plays on the main site, this is some rough football, these women play the game, hit hard, one even had a tooth knocked out, sure the draw is the women, but they actually play real football that is possibly worth watching, check out the video and judge for yourself. |

->> It is very interesting to me, as one who has transitioned to a career point where visuals are on equal–if not greater–footing with verbiage, that there is so much discussion and commentary on this front page topic and the associated images, when another current verbiage-only front page topic that I'd reckon would at least stir some interest or commentary hasn't even registered so much as a sneeze on these boards.
Thanks for once again proving that photographers are visually oriented and are click-driven based almost exclusively upon images, not words or headlines.

(10/04/09) If anyone feels the need to mark this post "huh" because I am making statements requires a wee bit of critical thinking to draw a conclusion, go back back to the front page, look above the fold and see what words might lead to some risque content. |

->> Since men rule the world and their private parts rule them, the LFL will exist and get plenty of media coverage, even though it's a bona fide sport that deserves coverage (and its own SS thread) the same way that midget tossing, strip poker and Jell-O wrestling do.
The main difference between scantily-clad women playing football for voyeuristic patrons in a stadium and women performing in a Times Square coin-operated peep show is the venue.
Put aside the "wardrobe malfunctions" and think about safety issues: injuries that could happen when people play smash-mouth football with minimal protection.
Many of these women probably love the game as much as the rest of you and would rather play the real deal with proper coverage and protection, but that opportunity is not afforded them. So, they're participating in the only game in town.
Give me as many negative marks as you wish: I’ll never see them as I won’t be coming back. My 7th year is almost up and I’m not renewing my SS subscription. I’ve stopped learning about the craft of sports photography due to too many threads lousy with negativity, arguing, unconstructive criticism, personally disparaging comments, immature behavior and rudeness on the message board.
For me, it’s game over.
Sarah
P.S. For many thread participants, please duck: this post is not aimed at you. |

I assume you missed or are ignoring the "Currently cool" feature: a family-run strip club, complete with lap dancers. I don't know if it's what Jack refers to above, but I can't wait for that discussion. |

Its not to me personally, because this is the internet, and if someone says something I don't agree with on the internet, I move on with my life. Just saying =). |

The threads are only a small part of SS. I for one, would miss seeing your photos. You will not learn much about the craft of sports photography from the message boards, but I learn a lot from seeing the amazing work of lots of people here- yourself included. |

Fantastic, Sarah. I spent several years at a weekly not too far up the road from you so I have a good sense of the environment in which you are working. That makes me all the more impressed.

Every city but San Diego and Denver that have Lingerie Football League teams have at least one and in some cases multiple "real deal" women's football teams in either of these leagues. All the teams have websites and information about how and when to come try out. San Diego and Denver have also had teams in the recent past but am not sure their current status.
"Put aside the "wardrobe malfunctions" and think about safety issues: injuries that could happen when people play smash-mouth football with minimal protection."
I take it you have never watched rugby or Australian rules football. |

->> Sarah... "Since men rule the world..." ?????????? What????
Nobody told me that... How come I didn't get the memo? Did anyone else get this notification? Wow... I gotta read the paper more. And when do I get my papers of superiority? Do they get recorded down at the courthouse? Hey, this is cool! What exactly can I now do with this new power? I know; start more lingerie leagues!! Geez...
Disclaimer and Statement of Clarification: The foregoing was a tongue-in-cheek jab at Sarah's opening premise, which might explain her post and frame of mind. Everyone remain calm. |

I certainly understand your decision to bolt. Actually, I applaud it. I have pondered the same move as I have seen this site digress at times to a less-than-professional forum. I have been pushed to the brink of that decision by the latest "Currently Cool" choice by the administrators of this site. But I believe I will remain and attempt to hold down my corner of this little universe (there's an oxymoron!) by interjecting positive comments and posting images that adhere to the initial spirit of the site.

->> Even if the LFL was/is the only show in town, doesn't mean that women should sign up to play.
To suggest that women sign up to play in this league because it is the only show in town is to broadly suggest that women lack self-respect. I don't think Sarah herself would fit into that category, just as I don't think all men fit into the category of being control by parts of their body.
For every woman that plays in this league there are many other women out there that would love to play football but choose not to play because they do have self-respect.
If there is any fault in the existence of this league it rests equally on the people who run the league and the women who sign up to play. One could not exist without the other. |

->> AMEN!!!
You typed faster than me!!
Nobody is forcing these ladies to play in this league!!
This league wouldn't exist of there wasn't any players willing to join..
FWIW, the only part of my body that rules my actions is my Brain and my morals!! I have made mistakes in the past, but I work hard to make up for them and prevent doing them in the future!!
