->> Ok, I know there are lots of alternatives to paying for a Pro web designer. However, I have decided to use their services... So my question is for those of you who do web design, or have hired someone to do so. How much have you paid in the past to have a website created? It is a Non-ecomerse site, it is not a proofing site, it is just for portfolio display, and contact info etc...
If this is a much broader question then I realize... let me know... I can try to be more specific. |

->> I personally use NeonSky. I really like them. You can check out my site site for an idea of it. Their content management system is great. I pay something like $45 a month with an initial startup of $400 or something like that.
I have a lot of friend that use livebooks who are really happy with it. I considered livebooks, but for no great reason went with NeonSky. I think up front Livebooks is more expensive, but in the long run is cheaper than NeonSky. |

->> photobiz.com
I use them for my site and I have a bunch of fellow friends who do also. Not only are they cheap but they have high quality site templates/hosting.. and amazing customer service! I went with their html site but they have unbelievable full size flash sites. All their templates are ridiculously easy to set up too. I really couldn't be happier with using them. |

| ->> I guess it depends on how custom you want your site to be. A good flash designer starts around 3k, If its built like my site is you can update it yourself. Not that I do much... but you could. It you want someone really good check my friends out. http://www.tankadesign.com/ Worth every penny to know it works when someone clicks on it. |

| ->> Since you're getting suggestions on template sites, consider http://aphotofolio.com/. I'm about to switch my site from sitewlder.com over to there. |

| ->> I second the motion on NeonSky... I've been with them for 3 years, my site has NEVER been down, unlimited photo uploads, unlimited bandwidth; that's why the monthly is higher. Their customer service is flawless, and they just upgraded their SEO. I will never leave. |

| ->> I should add, that since you asked about custom web design, NeonSky does that as well, but if you investigate it I think you might find their templates are really good. |

->> I second A Photo Folio, I went with one of their templates for my new site which went live just over a month ago: http://www.simonkeitch.com
I'm very happy with it, and the back end is easy to use, with unlimited galleries and the ability to upload private (password protected) galleries for clients etc. I was looking at the Live Books sites as well but the A Photo Folio site does exactly what I want for significantly less money. I'd only recommend Live Books if you're going to take full advantage of the fact that they custom build each site. |
