->> I will be covering the Northeastern University vs Villanova football game (at Villanova) and am wondering if anyone on SS covers the Wildcats and can give me some advice on the stadium and logistics, do's/don'ts? The guide does not have muchinfo
Can you tansmit from the field, the media room etc.
I will be getting into Philly around 7:00pm or so Friday night and am staying at the Westin Philadelphia. Any nice restaurants or better yet local watering holes that are unique to the area?
Also, since the game is at 3:30 what is within walking distance of this hotel as far as historic tourist sites?
Any input is appreciated.

->> Jim,
First of all I have never shot Villanova football but I have shot basketball there and everyone seems to be very friendly. Since I can't help you out with that here are some suggestions for places to visit while in town.
Pat's King of Steaks
1237 E Passyunk Ave Philadelphia, PA 19147
(not walkable from your hotel but worth the short car ride)
Also Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are about 10 blocks from your hotel. They are located at Market and 6th street.
In this same area you will find the constitution center as well as the U.S. mint which are both really interesting.
Enjoy your stay in the city of Brotherly Love.

->> It's been four or five years for me, but if I recall, you'll park across the street and walk over US30 to get to the stadium. I don't remember lighting being all that fantastic. I think you'll be able to transmit from the pressbox, but I don't recall. You might try contacting their SID's office for more info? (Coincidentally, the last game I worked there was the Northeastern/Nova game in '05.)
The college is in a very nice area, and there are a bunch of small towns along 30 to check out. The "Main Line," as it's called, is quite posh. I particularly like the town of Wayne. |
