Adorama Pix ??
Eric Canha, Photographer

->> Anyone use Adorama for printing 16x20's ? I have a large order for 60+ 16x20's and Adorama has the best price and turnaround time (based on my phone call with them).

Just looking for the good the bad and the ugly.

->> Eric,

I tried Adoramapix out when they had a sale on 10 prepaid prints at 16x20 and I've loved mine. Download their ICC profiles and you should be all set. I've enjoyed my Kodak Luster prints but am in love with the stuff they've printed for me on metallic.

I would say the quality I've had from Adoramapix is at least equal to my prints from MPix.

One of my brides is IMing me right now that she just got her Adorama pix the other day, they are now on the wall and she loves them. She's trying to find a spot for her 20x24 at the moment.

->> I've used them for large printing (16x20 and larger) over the last several years, always with good results. For best results, you should download the color profiles they have created, and work the images up to size yourself. Each time I've done this, the printed results perfectly matched what I saw on screen before uploading the images for printing.

Loved every print so far from that company, zero complaints

->> Hey Caplin - thanks for mentioning that. It really helps in a very big way to do this because it indicates that our community is worth their support.

It's hard to find, but when buying something from Adorama.com, always select "SportsShooter.com" from the "where did you hear about us" pull-down menu at the end of the buying process.

->> Grover I did plug SS when checking out. Color me impressed so far. I uploaded the files and placed an order for 63 16x20's well after the 1:30 cutoff for same day processing. I figured that the prints would ship tomorrow and that I would have them Wednesday. Well to my surprise I got a UPS tracking number a little while ago and the prints will be here tomorrow!

If the quality is as good as everyone here is telling me I can expect, I have a new supplier for bulk large format prints. The crazy thing is that I called a local lab that does a good chunk of the studios around here as well as having an internet presence. I swear they couldn't have been less desirous of the job. Rather than to jump on a $500 order and close the deal (they're 15 minutes from my front door) they put all kinds of road blocks up.

They couldn't get the order ready until Friday. They could ONLY setup an account online (this place has a service counter). AFTER setting up an account I'd have to call back to talk to someone about my tax status. And on and on and on. In this market, anyone who doesn't jump on a potential customer and go the extra yard to close a deal is a fool.

Thank God I left a little time in the equation for a re-do in case I wasn't happy with the prints. Adorama is redoing the order and UPS is going to have to eat it.
