OT: FS VS WTB WTF ???

->> Cryptic enough? Okay, there is something I can't figure out since joining SS and maybe there is something I'm not seeing, but why do people post WTB (want to buy) equipment in the classifieds when three or four lines down, there is the exact same piece of equipment FS (For Sale).
I can't count how many times I have seen WTBs for a Mark II or a Mark IIN and on the next page or even on the same page, same day, someone is selling one in pristine condition at a reasonable price.
Am I missing something? |

| ->> Ever consider that perhaps, they saw the items for sale, but did not like the price or condition, so want to find out who else is selling or thinking about selling? Everyone has different meanings for reasonable price and pristine condition... or maybe they just don't like the current sellers! haha |

->> Paul,
I have often wonered the same thing myself, and I have seen it on FM also. My thought's were always similar to Patrick's. That either they made contact with the seller and couldnt reach an agreement or they didnt care for the response or condition of the item.
To me its kind of like the pet peve not using the search before posting but it happens. |

->> Personally, I've found that you can reach many more opportunities than the one posted by listing a WTB ad.
There might be that person out there sitting on the fence wondering whether to list an item or not.
If you find someone looking for the exact thing you're selling, it saves listing it and answering e-mails with low bids and stupid questions. |

->> It's just like the guys around the ballpark. One guy is selling tickets, another guy is buying tickets. Why don't they just transact with each other?
It is quite baffling. :) |

->> Jim,
When a guy at a ballpark says "I need tickets", thats code for "Im a scalper". They're not actually selling tickets. |
