It should use the standard EN-EL3 We are using the older d2hs/d2x batteries because our secound bodies are D2HS (besides my kit which was the oldest at the paper with two D2HS bodies) and wanted convenience of the same battery and faster fpsbut we have several of the En-EL3e's and ordered a few more for my new D300s. We are using the grip on all our D300/D300s systems so that may make a difference but I do not think so. |

| ->> Same battery(s) though seem(s) to get used up quicker. Still acceptable (2 or so events). Maybe the indicator is just more accurate. |
