It should use the standard EN-EL3 We are using the older d2hs/d2x batteries because our secound bodies are D2HS (besides my kit which was the oldest at the paper with two D2HS bodies) and wanted convenience of the same battery and faster fpsbut we have several of the En-EL3e's and ordered a few more for my new D300s.
