->> not much else to say other than the subject line. Anyone register multiple domains to portect their site/company name? .com, .info, .me etc? more important ones to choose than others, I don't know any other important points?

->> I originally just had the .com domains, but last year I registered the .net and .org versions, since they're probably the next most popular names. How far you want to go (ie. .info, .me, etc.) probably depends on time and cost. I believe some can get expensive and they probably don't have the traffic to justify the costs.

->> If you go with godaddy.com or some other registration, it can be reasonably cheap to get all the associated domains. It sounds like you don't want someone to get a similar site and get your traffic or create problems for you.

->> It just depends on how far you want your reach to go. I think it's more cost effective to register common misspellings of your your name / domain (such as EricMarkov.com instead of ErikMarkov.com) rather than extending your reach to less well-known extensions such as .info, .tv, .mobi, .me etc. You could also consider registering generic keyword domains relevant to your site / company.

->> I've never really considered this idea. The vast majority of people still think of .com as the standard. IMHO I can't see it being cost effective to purchase more than one.
