->> The Toronto International Film Festival is in full swing, so I suppose it only stands to reason...
"We need a whole bunch of amateur paparazzi to get some pictures of young international socialites who are going to be in town, for our new online society magazine.
Don't have to be professional or have experience, just need to have a decent quality camera and the gritty boldness required to photograph a complete stranger!"

->> Has anyone ever thought about the fact that by posting the links to ads like that here, on one of the most lurked photo sites on the net, you are actually helping to put the ad in front MORE people?

->> Today's threat level from the unwashed masses of non-pros lurking on this site is Orange. We should make them remove their shoes and leave all bottles of shampoo on Flickr.
Just saying. |

->> Sad that they are looking for average people with average cameras to follow around people who's only interest is that they have money enough to be called socialites.
Sorry, did I say that out loud?
Birthday soon. Feeling old. |

Sorry to any MI guys on here.
And back on topic: I think it's a pretty bad idea. It's only allowing people like Perez Hilton or TMZ to stay in buisness. And inflates egos of people who already have that problem to begin with. Granted, I'm pretty sure that the majority of us feel a bit of an ego swell when we're the guy with the longest lens and or fastest camera at an event...Or when GWC's ask about our equipment. Ha.

All I was saying is that if you want to discuss these ads, wouldn't it be better to cut and paste the text rather than to post a link here that would/could send people who are lurking here straight to the listing?
If you just paste:
We need a whole bunch of amateur paparazzi to get some pictures of young international socialites who are going to be in town, for our new online society magazine.
Don't have to be professional or have experience, just need to have a decent quality camera and the gritty boldness required to photograph a complete stranger!
* Location: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
* it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
* Compensation: to be discussed
We can still discuss the post without adding to the possible number of respondents.
If you don't agree with me that's cool too. I'm just not seeing the upside of driving viewers here to a specific ad that doesn't do anyone any good. |
