->> I shot my first NFL game last night. The season opener of the Raiders and Chargers. It was pretty good football and a really fun time.
Here's the slideshsow I made for our website:

In my previous thread, someone asked about previous bad lighting in Oakland and I figured I'd share my experiences.
I took two cameras, Nikon's D700 and D300 both with grips, a 300 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8 and a 28-70 f/2.8 and a 1.4 teleconverter on the 300.
For extra reach, I put the 300 f/2.8 on the cropped-body D300 with a converter, making effectively a 420mm f/4. I never raised my ISO past 2500, but my shutter speeds stayed around 1/1000th second, with a few times sinking down to an 1/800th.
Here's my blog at the paper with photos and a commentary on shooting professional sports (click on each to view bigger):

My D700 never exceeded 2000 ISO and performed great, mostly shooting the 70-200 f/2.8.
Yes, I know I work for a Weekly newspaper, but the previous cover story we did was on the Charger's defense coordinator Ron Rivera who as many of you know played for the 1985 Chicago Bears, but also played and coached for Seaside High School (which is in our county). Kassim Osgood, also of the Chargers played for another high school in county.
Here's the story on Rivera:

We rarely cover big sports like this, but in the effort to do something different, I thought it would be cool for our readership to see a "local" NFL game from a different perspective.
Shooting football is very exciting, though very difficult. Props to all of you who do it all the time.
Hopefully I'll make it out again,
