I'll be impressed when they put a camera in orbit on a beer budget or at least get it up above 200,000 feet. |

->> It's a cool project, but the title is seriously unfair.
They didn't really "beat" NASA. These guys wanted a cool picture from the edge of space. That's it, and they got it in a very clever way.
The stuff NASA does has far more constraints. They want scientifically valid, measurable data of very specific things at very specific times. When they take a picture, they want to be able to geomap it, tell where it is and what it's seeing, use it in research. When you put those kind of constraints on the problem, it gets more expensive and complicated. |

| ->> But the MIT kids got spanked by the 12 yr. olds, whose rig was bigger, more complicated and included teddy's in space. They should've used the Travelocity gnome..... |

->> What a story, thanks for sharing. It's amazing what one can do with a flexible mind and a can-do spirit.
As a side note... I wonder if the Canon development hack can be applied to DSLR's...? |

Something to shoot for at the next SSA. *wink*
And yes I realize I've said "shoot" 3 times now.
Dag-nabbit. 18 hour days o/ |
