I've never done any time lapse stuff before (though should give it a try as my Nikon's have built in interval timers)

Does one typically set the camera to manual or do you use an auto exposure mode ?

It seems problematic either way because the sunny daytime images would require such a short exposure, but that same short exposure wouldn't give anything but a black frame at night. However, on the other hand, if you used an auto mode then I think it would over expose things like the moon and night sky.....

Any insights anyone ??
