->> A little over a week ago the granddaughter of a friend of mine was killed in a senseless act of gun violence following a Friday night high school football game. The young lady was a respectful, young cheerleader with a promising future and a school full of friends. Her grandmother was a former co-worker at my old newspaper who is as sweet and as admired as her granddaughter was.
Needless to say I wondered what the coverage would turn out to look like and how it would be handled.
I was out of town for the funeral but when I learned that Chip Litherland covered it I knew it would turn out something like this...

Thank you Chip. |

->> Brian -
Thanks for the post, man...really appreciate it. All I can say it was an amazingly sad story to work on, but hopefully some good comes out of the story and photos being out there in the community.

| ->> Thoughtful images. Quiet and moving. Nice job Chip. It was good to read your blog as well. These stories have quite an effect on you as a journalist, but like you said "hopefully some good comes out of the story and photos." I'm sure that has already happened in some way. |

| ->> Nice work Chip. Funerals are always tough, but you made images that respectfully show the heartache and pain of such a great loss. As the months pass by the family will be glad that you were there. |
