| ->> I know the 7D hasn't been officially released yet, but I haven't been able to find any sample or test shots of sports related photos, or reviews from testers who have used it on sports related assignments. Has anyone seen any sports images from this camera? |

| ->> Ehhhh, I want to see some samples shot under the worst conditions, not outdoors under sunny skies. How about some photos in some of these high school gyms at ISO 6400 or 12500 with color temps that change by the minute, or so it seems. |

->> Steven,
Not sure what you mean by your post. The 1dmkIII has 10fps and the d3 has 9. No other camera from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax or Oly has 8fps. So out of all the DSLRs out there, the 7d has the 3rd fastest frame rate. Sure it's marketing, but I would think with only 2 cameras having a faster frame rate the 7d is "one of the fastest". |

| ->> Actually, given the problems the Mark III had focusing in the outdoors under sunny skies, that may not be a bad test. ;) |

->> john, i believe steven was referring to the posted link. It mentioned that on the site. http://www.naturfokus.info/EN/
the author makes that statement under the heading titled "Frame Rate" |

->> Some film cameras have/had faster speeds than that. I can think of the trusty Nikon F2 with the faster motor-drive, which if I remember correctly had 14fps or something like that. Not to mention the newer F5 and F6; and of course the Canon 1V HS.
Is it relevant, probably not. To say it of a prosumer camera, I guess, is just a marketing phrase to boost sales. |

->> John,
The 1D, 1DmkII and 1DmkIIN all are capable of 8fps (actually a touch over) as do the Nikon D300,D700, D2X, D2Xs and D2H. |

->> The more I read about this camera, the more hesitant I become. People already are reporting noise and AF issues. It's not weather-sealed as well as the 1D series. And I rarely use video, so I find those features far less exciting than, say, low noise at "extreme" ISOs -- you know, 800 and 1600?
I thought this review posted today in Gizmodo was interesting, as were the comments: http://gizmodo.com/5349829/canon-7d-dslr-first-hands-on-18-megapixels-24fps...
Trust me -- I'm really, REALLY ready to replace my 20D as my secondary body. But I'm not sure this is the one to do it. |

->> Jeff,
I think Canon's main focus was the serious amateur with this camera. 18mp sounds great to that crowd and add in video and not the cost of 1D/D3 or even 5D and you have something that will likely light up the eyes of the guy with camera.
IMO most people that buy this camera probably wont know what a 1.6 crop body is. But 18 megapixels sure sounds good and Canon will smile to the bank. |

->> Keep in mind those examples are "easy examples." People running at you or tethered is not complex enough to measure.
The only valid example would be the side pan AF tracking with the soccer players.
However, the true test is the amount of time it takes for the lens and body to communicate with each other with a subject that is relatively close and the time it takes for you to focus on something relatively far away in the same sequence.
Just something food for thought.
I'm sure AF won't be an issue after the Mark III debacle. One can only hope. |

| ->> Hopefully the AF is stable. We'll see. So far the high ISO samples don't look too bad given the pixel density of this cam. |
