The Kahuna's "Don't Call-It-A-Blog" has now been incorporated into the workshop's new site. So there are a couple of new posts about the World Series on the new ssa.com. |

->> Thought I'd also post this on Melissa's thread on the workshop:
I had a question about the application process for SSA VII. There is a deadline this time and we will be filling the limited number of spots as we receive the applications. So it is a good possibility that all of the spaces will be filled by the time the application deadline rolls around in early January.
There will be a waiting list once the workshop fills up. I hope we do not have any dropouts and any openings would be filled from the waiting list.
And lastly: There are NO plans to hold a Sports Shooter Academy outside of southern California.
Mahalo! |

->> Jordon Murph has written a little FAQ to address the most commonly asked questions regarding the Sports Shooter Academy.
Also a quick note on applications, which have been available for a little over a week: There is an interesting trend developing for SSA VII with several applications from the U.K. and a couple from Mexico! This workshop could be an international event!

The amount of equipment they brought in for the workshop this year was the most I have seen at any event... |

->> George, I was at the last SSA in April 2009 and the amount of Nikon equipment that Ron (from Nikon) had there to be loaned out was unreal and their assistance was even better.
If you are thinking about attending this years SSA, DON'T think any longer GO you will have a great time and you won't regret going. The combination of the Great Staff Bert & Matt put together and the many locations for shooting along with the Nikon equipment make it a can't miss.
I wish I could attend this April's event but I have to sit this one out. My son is in his senior year of High School and the SSA is right in the middle of High School Baseball season. My son has had interest from numerous Pro Baseball Scouts so this is going to be a big year for him (hopefully) and I don't want to miss a game. Hopefully I will be attending the 2011 SSA. |

->> Thanks William and Robert,
As much as I would love to attend SSA VII, my schedule doesn’t allow it. Again, I was following this thread;
http://www.sportsshooter.com/message_display.html?tid=34532
Clicked on the SSA VII thread to find the link to Robert’s World Series Story, and inadvertently posted my question in the SSA VII thread thinking I was still in the WS thread.
I was curious whether Nikon had made D3s’s available to some of the top Nikon Shooters like Robert for the World Series.
Great read on your WS story by the way Robert. |

->> Robert,
I take it that the answer to my question in the link you provided is "limited"? I had checked in the FAQ and didn't see an answer.
I also read that the applicants that are accepted will be notified right away, but what about those that are not accepted? Will they be notified that they were not accepted but not all of the spots are full yet?
I am sorry for all the questions, I am just getting really excited about this and trying to figure everything out.
Thanks for all your help Robert! |

I recall, Robert tries to accept as many people as space, money, and time will allow - but also keeping the total number of people to a size where everyone can get the individual attention and opportunity to shoot sports that they want to!
So apply, pray, then go out and keep shooting on your own :) |

->> CONGRATS to those of you that have been confirmed for Sports Shooter Academy VII!
There are just a few more open spots in THE coolest sports photography event of the year.
If you want to attend, as I have mentioned previously, it's best to apply sooner rather than later.
Once we fill all of the available space in SSA VII, I will start a waiting list. So submit your application!
Keep looking at this site and the new site devoted to the workshop: http://sportsshooteracademy.com/ |

However should I be invited to such an event there is the possibility of making exceptions. I have been withholding an application because I would not want to get accepted only to have to turn it down due to the military not allowing it. |

Just apply, its a lot easier to ask for an exemption with a letter of acceptance, than with wishful thinking.
APPLYING is the only way to know. I was fortunate to enjoy the workshop twice with SSA IV, and SSA VI. I hope others develop and cherish the events as much as me.
If I forgot to mention it, APPLY ! APPLY ! APPLY ! |

Dayne-
I had to learn this the hard way but just wait and see if you get accepted. Bert has said that there are limited spots but I wouldn't let all hope go until he says that all the spots have been filled. Trust me, patience can be a virtue, especially in this situation. |

- You should have contacted the workshop directly, either by email or through the SportsShooterAcademy.com site, with your question rather than post it on a message board looking for an answer.
- Officially I can only say that you can't get into this workshop unless you submit an application and ... you had better hurry. There are not many spots left to fill. |

->> The Sports Shooter Academy is a great opportunity for students and professionals looking to move their work to the next level. You'll make some new friends, see some old ones, and have experiences you won't forget.
I am particularly grateful for the SSA experience as one of the images I made at SSA VI was part of my sports portfolio that won bronze in CPOY this year, and I learned a lot more that I have yet to express in my images. I was not alone, Diego James Robles and others also have received awards since SSA for the work they made while at the workshop. The faculty is out to donate their time and hearts, while Nikon contributes a lot financially to allow students to go tuition free and keep things affordable for everyone else.
So apply now, you will find it time well spent. I did not apply this year, but I will certainly do so again in the future.
Thanks Robert!

Applications literally have come in from all over the world. We have 5 applicants from the U.K., one from Mexico, another from Canada and one from Australia.
Wow!
One puzzling thing: With so many colleges, universities and JC's in So Cal (all with great student newspapers) ... we have the fewest number of applications from locals ever.
As Ronal Taniwaki says: "Oh well." |
