Favorite earbuds on and off the field?
Nick Doan, Photographer, Assistant

->> Since my dog ate my Shure 110s earbuds, I've been in the market for a new headset that work with my iphone/ipods that sound good, can work running up and down a football field (and as a bonus has a microphone for hands free telephone calls).

Anybody have a preference?

I bought a cheap pair of JVC earbuds to use until I found a better set, and the $20 JVCs I bought are crap. Everything sounds muffled, and I feel like I am listening to music thru a wall. The apple earphones that came with my iPhone work about 1000% percent better, but they just aren't sturdy over the long term and I lose sound in one earphone alot.

You can pick them up at Target or just about anywhere, and they're cheap enough to have a few spares in your car, etc. They sound great.

For more serious listening, I'm a big fan of the Sony MDR-NC22 noise canceling headphones. Expensive and definitely not rugged enough for sideline use, but great for airplane travel.

->> Nick,
I just picked up a set of MotoRokr S9-HD bluetooth wireless headphones and they work great! No more wires and I can make calls and listen at the same time. A bit pricey at $99 but well worth the money, the sound is great as well.

If you are going to go with the S9's try them out first. Clearly (here it comes) my head is too big. I never managed to get the buds to stay on. the back of my skull always caused the arms of the earbuds to flex too far outward.

I LOVE the skull candy and also a pair of Koss buds that had mold-able earbuds. You rolled them between your finger and thumb and popped them in just like the foam earplugs. When they expanded they were super comfortable and sounded great.

Let the comments about my head roll now.
