lightroom not importing captions/copyright info

->> I seem to be having a problem with lightroom, and it's bothering me.
first off, here is my basic workflow.
-open photomechanic
-ingest cards with basic shoot info and copyright info
-make first cut selections
-add keywords and captions to specific photos
-move selected photos to new folder
Now at this point I'll open lightroom and import the folder into a catalog. At the import prompt, I make sure in the metadata preset that every option is checked. Yet when I look at the photos in lightroom after the import, the caption and copyright info is missing.
Do I have a setting off somewhere in lightroom, or is this just lightroom and PM not being on the same page? |

| ->> Are you saving images in Photomechanic with XMP sidecare files? I've noticed that on occassion I have to re-sync the folders in Lightroom, sometimes several times, after already importing them before ratings and caption and copyright info is imported. |

| ->> Dominic, What version of Lightroom are you using? When I was using Lightroom 1 captions were not imported, however in Lightroom 2 captions were imported admittedly from Lightroom 2. |

->> That's basically the same workflow I use. Lightroom should bring up a presets window when you import a folder of images. You can apply toning and/or metadata presets when you import the photos. Just a guess, but are you applying a metadata preset, which has all of the the fields selected, but are blank, which would overwrite the existing IPTC of the imported photos?
You can check the preset when the import window comes up for metadata/edit presets to see what it's going to apply. |
