How many bodies do you own? (camera bodies!)

->> Just taking a little survey to help with my never ending equipment conundrum.
I'm in the process of possibly consolidating and possibly expanding my equipment inventory.......contradictory I know, but there is a method to the madness.
I currently own 5 camera bodies (all the same model) three of which I use on a consistent assignment basis, one which i've designated for remotes, and one that I keep in the studio.
I'd just like to know from other working photographers, how many camera bodies do you carry in your arsenal. How many do you normally carry on day to day assignments?
Thanks in advance. |

->> 4 (digital) Most days I'll carry 2 D3's for most of my shooting. Sometimes I'll add a third body with a wide lens if I think that the action/subject is going to be too close for a 70-200 to cover it. A D200 is now on remote duty only.
All 4 bodies are in the same bag, so I guess that they are always "with" me. |

->> I roll with 2 bodies on average. For most newspaper type work, 2 is all I need. I'm not a heavy remote guy, but when the assignment calls for it, I'll bring 3 bodies.
I'm a but of a minimalist, and find that more gear weighs me down for most assignments. For sports, depending on how much running around I do, I'll bring 3 bodies when possible. |

->> Currently I own 5 D-SLR bodies, a mix of Canon 1D & 5D/20D bodies. The 20Ds should be removed from the kit in the near future for additional 5D type bodies. I love the 1D bodies, but for what I have migrated to shooting I find the 5D favourable in terms of weight, battery life, battery size and size of battery charger.
...but I love the 1D bodies because you can beat on the and the don't die.
I also have a number of Nikon film bodies and a full kit of Nikon glass. |

| ->> Normally work with 3. For outdoor sports, D300 with a long lens, D300/D2H with an 80-200, and D90 with a WA zoom (the latter for still and video use). Indoors, D300 with an 80-200, D300/D2H as a remote or with a WA zoom; D90 with WA zoom if using a remote. That covers 95% of my needs. |

->> I just ordered a 7D, which will be added to my 40D and two 20Ds. My old 10D acts as my wife's backup body (she just inherited her father's 20D) when we travel, so I guess we're a 6 body household at the moment. Depending on what Canon does with their pro release, I'll either finally upgrade to a pro body or make the switch.
Since the most bodies I typically use is three for football, basketball and when traveling, I'm hoping I can consolidate soon (or start using remotes ;). |

->> I use two Canon 5D MkII bodies as my main kit with a 1D MkIII and a 50D as regular back-ups. I also have a couple of Canon film bodies (EOS1V) and two Leica M6s. I have boxes full of lenses but use the L series zooms on a day-to-day basis.
Definitely looking at a 7D as a replacement for the 50D (battery compatibility mostly) and I hope to replace the 1D MkIII soon ;-)

->> I tend to use as little gear as I need despite all the gear that I have. I have two Nikon D700's and a D200 for remote work. I still have two Nikon film bodies, my Mamiya RB and Yashicaflex (if that counts) along with my Voigtlander rangefinder and Panasonic LX-3.
But I do 95% of my work with one D700 and my AF-S 28-70 f/2.8. |

->> I've currently three bodies in my possession, a D700 and D300 are my two bread and butter cameras. But I also own a D200 which is on loan to my dad, and I have access to if I need an additional backup/remote/oh crap camera.
I love the combo of FX and DX because it makes my lens range really versatile (300 + 2x TC on my D700 looks awesome all the way up to ISO 6400, ƒ/5.6) |

->> In my bag--which I've put together piecemeal over the last couple of years due to not shooting much--has four bodies..
1- Mark IIn
1- Mark I
1- 40D
1- EOS 3 (Very emergency back-up)
At football games, I use the three digital cameras.. A 300/4 on the IIn, a 70-200 on the Mk I and a 17-40 on the 40D.
For extra reach during day games, I use a 1.4 extender on the 300.
I've done all day games.. If it starts getting dark before the game ends, I'll go with either the 300/4 or 70-200 on the IIn and keep the 17-40 on the 40D. |

->> Nikon D200,
D80 (I LOVE this little gem)
D2H for sports
Coolpix 5400 (hey, it shoots RAW and has a hotshoe!)
Canon PNS for my wife.
Now, due to some donations, I also have the following in my classroom:
Nikon D1 (not an h or x)
Kodak DCS-620X - and it WORKS
Canon 10D (thanks to a donation from a SS member)
Anybody have anything more old school digital than the 620X? I didn't think so. |

I keep the other cameras, even thought they're outdated because they are good back-up bodies. Usually, I'll carry the D700 and D200 with me and keep the other two in the car, just in case. For weddings, I'll use the main two and set up the D2h as a remote sometimes. |

Used to have a D2X, couple of D200's and a D2H but have sold them as I upgrade. Am waiting to see what Nikon does in terms of a D4 or D400(?). Depending on cost, will add one of those in time. |
