Active D Lighting and card write speed
Grant Blankenship, Photographer

->> I've been trying the D-Lighting feature in my Nikons in an attempt to preserve a little more highlight detail in the ol' JPEGs. I think, though I am not sure, I have been noticing a pretty significant lag in write speed in my D3 as a result. Only noticeable after a burst of frames in a football game, for instance.

Has anyone else noticed this?

->> Yes, the write speed does drop. Check page 186 of your D3 user's manual.
