Question about Photomechanic and preference settings
Tom Suarez, Photographer

->> I use Photomechanic to import my photos and crop a little if needed, then I upload to Zenfolio, when I try to order certain products such as a 24 x 36 it says there is not enough resolution.
Here is my question. Should I change the dpi under preferences to 350 instead of 300 and will this effect the quality or just reate a larger file?
What is your set at?

->> Hi Tom,

The dpi isn't the issue, so changing it won't make any difference. What's important is how many pixels you have in total. Usually this is expressed by the number of pixels on the long side x the number of pixels on the short side.

Here's a guide to the pixel size required by mpix -- which, if I'm not mistaken, is a zenfolio partner:

You can see your image's resolution in Photomechanic in the title bar of the preview screen you get when you double-click on an image. For example, my D300 files right out of the camera are at 4288x2848.

Your best bet is to import the pictures into Photomechanic, and crop as you'd like. If your resolution is too low for the size print you'd like, you can upsize in Photoshop.
