Sales Tax in Pennsylvania
Mark Tassoni, Photographer
Bryn Mawr | PA | US | Posted: 5:23 PM on 08.31.09
->> A client of mine (landscape design firm) just sent back some of my recent invoices and requested that I now add on PA sales tax to them.

They said they were audited this year and the auditors were concerned that the photographer they hired as a subcontractor (ME) wasn't charging them sales tax.

I looked at PA tax law and it's a bit nebulous, but it looks like photography services are subject to sales tax.

Anyone??????

When you think you've finished working on a photo but then some nagging thing at the back of your head tells you to change it in the slightest possible way so you do. You're re-finished.

->> Mark,

Yes you need to collect sales tax unless they provide you with a tax exempt certificate. If you don't have a sales tax license you can register you buisness online at:

http://www.pa100.state.pa.us/

And fill out the PA-100 Enterprise Registration Form.

Once complete you'll be issued a sales tax license number and you certificate will be mailed to you.

Good luck,
rob
