->> I have a Windows Vista laptop, and a Leica M8.2. From what I've learned on the internet, I'm now shooting in 'dng' format. To transfer the images to the computer, I'm using the standard Windows application from the selection box that opens automatically when I connect the camera - it's supposed to just import the files onto the computer.
Eventually this brings up Windows Photo Gallery, along with a note that a new version is available.
When I follow the instructions on how to get the latest software, I get a window talking about Windows File Association, and giving me two choices. It says the new software is available at either:
Adobe
FastPictureView Professional
So, I click on Adobe, only to get the following error messge:
"A codec for this file type is not yet available."
I thought that all this software for 'dng' files was finished and in use. Am I doing something wrong, or is it really not yet available?
Everything seems to work fine if I ingore the messages, simply store the images, and then use Lightroom2 to work on them, but it would be nice to be able to view the DNG files in Windows Explorer. |
