| ->> It still might be a nic light weight kit with a 5d mk 11 . Put a 5d mk11 with a 16-35 and the 7d with a 24-105 this becomes a 36 to 170 or so . Nice lightweight walk around kit. |

| ->> I love the new built in E-TTL. I won't be buying it because its a 1.6x, but I'm glad Canon put in a few new features and to me have jumped ahead of what the D300S offers. |

| ->> It makes me wonder if the 7D isn't a diversion from a much bigger/better announcement still under wraps? They let one thing leak while the bigger thing is still hidden. |

->> But will the AF Focus consistently. That will be the question regardless of any new announcements that Canon reveals.
I would wait until Rob Gailbraith puts any Canon cameras through the testing mill before touching any new Canon Bodies. Rob Gailbraith has shown at least to me to be an impartial reliable source of information on testing all the various cameras.
Canon still has issues after all this time. From the Gailbraith website an excerpt from the latest testing.
"Q. Prior to Canon's latest changes, what did you think of EOS-1D Mark III autofocus?
That it has come a long way since the early days back in mid-2007, but it still isn't what it should be for a 1-series camera." |

->> I dont understand half the things that Canon does. But I guess making money is more important than making serious photographers happy.
I think having the 1.6x crop in this camera kinda kills it. |

| ->> humbly. i dont understand what the bad thing about having a 1.6x is. gives you reach if you need it. i mean they;re just tool that we use to make pictures with. right? if it works for you, it works for you. if it doesnt, it doesn't. |

| ->> 18 megapixels on a 1.6 crop sensor? It's going to be really noisy. For those of us who shoot regularly at 800 to 1600 ISO, it's a total snoozers camera. Seriously considering switching to the Nikon D300 now. |

->> Yes, yes, yes, this all *very* exciting, but I personally plan to wait for the Canon 12D -- features include a 40 Tb RAW file, HD 3D video capability, Dolby stereo sound with directional microphone and auto clearance for copyrighted extraneous audio, and automatically extrapolates from existing visual data to replace/fill in pixels that might have been omitted (i.e., blocked, by, say, some ref's ass).
Nothing else will do. You losers who are excited about this primitive "camera" will just drop cash on anything, won't you?
Wondering if photographers invented the term "conspicuous consumption,"

->> humbly. i dont understand what the bad thing about having a 1.6x is.
The DOF characteristics are different between 1.6x and full frame. Other disadvantages include having to buy sensor-specific lenses to get true wide and medium capability. If all you want to do is hang a tele on it and use it for the extra reach, then 1.6x is fine. But for a camera that costs a couple of grand, most people want a little more flexibility, and that's where you quickly run into limitations. |

How can you already say it will be really noisy? Have you seen images that we all have not yet? How can you be so sure it will be noisy? |

->> if this part is legit (from the supposed press release translated in Google):
“In addition, can be realized per second 30/25/24 frames, resolution 1920 × 1080 pixel full HD movie capture, the use of high-definition picture quality (1280 × 720 pixel resolution) and standard-definition (640 × 480 pixel resolution) is able to 60/50 frames per second shooting. the shooting and the general PAL video formats (resolution 720 × 576 pixel, 25 frames / sec) compared to television programs, a higher quality, play a more fluid, and can support an external microphone stereo recording.” to mean 720p at 60fps"
I will buy it. |

->> david. i understand what you;re saying. hehe. i do think that its troublesome to have to get specific lenses for it if i were to go UWA or medium range...but like any other tool, each to its own, has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. use tools to the extent that they work the best. like i said. if it works it works. if it doesnt work, it doesnt work. move along. hehe.
i know when i was on obama duty last december in Hawaii...i was glad to have a 50D over my 1D Classic. The extra reach with a 300 2.8 on the 1.6x made it possible in getting "closer" to Obama and not relying on cropping in. i did my cropping 'in-camera'.
there are times however that when i was using crop (1.6x) bodies that i wish my lenses could go slightly wider.
I'm used to 1.3x bodies, and when i had to use 1.5x bodies during my internship, i had to adjust to the difference. i'll say it again. they;re just tools.
hehe. of course im preaching to the choir. :) Aloha.
great discussion on this thread 'gents. |

| ->> Someone at Best Buy must be smoking crack. They want $4999 for this thing. Maybe one of the SportsShooter's website sponsors would put one of these up as a special when they are available. I don't think there will be too many takers on that 40D and the the other specials are a year or more old specials. Come on, who will be the first to put it out there or at least have another special..... |
