->> Hey everyone,

So without too much self-promotion, I figured I'd share a story I wrote and shot this week for our rag about a local, sports card shop as there have been threads on Topps and Upper Deck.

Any feedback is appreciated.

->> Good story Nic..

I'm always interested in reading about and visiting card shops.. I've been to some shops whose ambiance would scream "upscale boutique".. I've been in some shops that would be mistaken for garbage dumps.

One thing is obvious..ownership runs the entire personality spectrum..

I've been visiting card shops for about 20 years now.. I've seen a lot of places open.. I've seen a lot of places close..

It's been interesting to watch the market expand, then contract.

Another interesting sports card angle is the evolution of the Beckett price guides.. I have the premier issues of the baseball, football and basketball guides. It's something to compare the latest price guide with issues dating back to the mid 80s. The hobby has gone from a rather simple pastime to a very broad. niche-oriented market.

I liked the photo you had.. That shop looks like a shop that could be around for years.. It appears to offer enough variety to satisfy collectors, young and old..

Again, good job Nic..
