Bill Gates may be spending his billions trying to find a cure for Aids and eradicate poverty in Africa, but the company that turned him into the world's wealthiest man has just suffered a setback to its hard-won, progressive reputation."

->> WOW...My feelng, if you want to market in Poland, then use the original image or make another image with the people you would like to use for the Poland ad, don't alter the image. In this day and time that can raise a lot of concerns of "racism." Sad that such a company that has the $$ to do a re-shoot has done this.

->> Microsoft might find themselves in a bit more hot water; this might not be an internal ad shoot as there's little chance they'd have a Macbook in it (right?), so it's probably a stock photo from one of the many vendors out there.

Now I'm reasonably certain that most stock agencies have similar licensing terms - one of which is that the content of the licensed image not be modified or altered beyond something like cropping it etc.

If this photo hadn't attracted the attention it has, such a modification might have gone unnoticed but now - well, the cat's out the bag for sure.

I'll be watching to see if Microsoft get a slap on the knuckles for breaching a license agreement. It's not like they can argue they don't know about such things.

I'm a PC ad, but I am still a Mac. Awesome.
