| ->> David I'm on my second i1. I considered upgrading to one of their units that would allow me to profile printers. In reality I'm sending most my printing to labs so it didn't make sense. |

->> I use Spyder3 Elite.
No issues with using either costco, WHC, mpix. All of the prints look just like they do on my screens |

->> Spyder 2 for my desktop, and Pantone Huey Pro for my laptop. (I wanted the regular room light adjustment reading that the Huey provides).
As a side note - I was having an awful time getting prints to look good from CS3 and my Canon i9100 printer. I finally got smart and told Photoshop to let the printer handle the colors and BAM, colors look great. |

| ->> Jeff - Most decidedly the thing to do. The old conventional wisdom was to let PS handle the colors if you were using a color-managed workflow - but this was based on the fact that printer manufacturers didn't have a clue about color management up until a few years ago. That's no longer the case, and if you are using a decent photo printer the printer driver can usually do a better job. |

->> I've come across some mentions on the internet that if you have a monitor that can display a wide gamut, such as the HP LP2475w that I just ordered, that you need a profiling device that can support the full AdobeRGB range ?
I've still got the old USB Spyder which has served me well for years on a variety of monitors, both LCD and CRT, but I wasn't sure if I am going to have to upgrade in order to get the most out of the new HP display. |

| ->> Not sure you have to worry, Jeff...maybe if you had one of the Samsung OLED monitors like the XL-20 and XL-30 that cover the whole sRGB range and then some. But the LP2475w, while a nice monitor, doesn't fall in that category (note the 20" XL-20 costs several times as much as the 24" HP...). |
