Headshot Licensing

->> I have started doing headshots for local businesses and Realtors. I'm having trouble explaining why I don't give up the copyright but instead license the images. It looks like B2B portraits (sears) offers a photo and copyright release for only $65. I'm not even trying to compete with that price range and instead offering something a little different.

Just curious if anyone else out there does headshots for local clients and how you handle the copyright issue. These are not celebrities and I'm not having them sign model releases, so I'm not looking for any resale potential. I'm also not offering prints. They just want a single digital file for them to use on the web, biz cards and local ads.

Any suggestions?

->> you will be surprised at the amount of business you will get if you do a Bus Port session for $65. I have on average 4 per week. my package includes
1)session, I take no more than 15 head only photos
2) they pick two photos (i use a tv in the camera room) and I delete the rest
3)offer retouching for $20 per image. 80% pay for this service for both images
4) email files for no charge if they want CD it is an additional $10.
These sessions don't go more than 20min because they do it on their lunch break.
As far as the licensing and copyright I don't charge for it because most it is only their head and use it for their bus cards only and I size it to a 5x7 @300dpi. In fact I offer a different package for real estate agents if they want to do something if they want a brochure photo to include full lengths. I do not sell the digital file for any of my other portrait or wedding images.
Almost all of my business portrait clients come back for other photo needs spending on average $700-$1200 on family photos and children photography.
