->> Hello SportsShooter People,
Basically, I was wondering if any of you have any tips for shooting MLB at Dodger Stadium. I will be going to shoot with credentials for the first time on Sunday the 23rd.
I am a college student who has been freelancing for a paper in Santa Barbara since I was in high school (about 4 years), so I have some experience (but not nearly as much as most of you).
I am renting a Nikon 200-400mm f/4 and I have a D3 and D300 to use, as well as 24-70mm, 70-200mm and a 20mm.
Basically my question is:
1. Any general tips
2. where do they place you to shoot?
3. where is a good spot to try?
4. how long do they let you stay? (I'm assuming the full game, but let me know if there is anything weird.)
Anyhow, I would really appreciate any tips you can offer. Thanks so much!

->> Robby,
I will probably be there. The photo wells are very tight (about six people per well) so you will probably have to shoot overhead which isn't too bad. Good place to get out of the sun too. It's just one level up. You will see metal platforms up there. A TC 1.4 would be helpful up there as well. You can shoot the whole game. First base side will give you the best chance of making a decent photo consistently, but the other spots will give you the "different" photo. Come say hello. I'll be in the first base photo well. |

He can give you the lay of the land. |

| ->> Overhead ... Bring a 600mm for sure. And a TC would be a good thing as well. |

Don't complain in public about the AP staffer... |

->> Avoid wearing a Barry Bonds jersey in the Pavilions and you will do just fine.
Make a stop by Vin Scully's press box before or after the game. It is one of the best views in the park. There is also a sign in sheet to gain access to the lower field spot by the Dodger Dug Out for an inning or so. Well worth the effort. |
