->> Imagine feeds from tens of thousands of video cameras all streamed live into a server that then (with the aid of as-yet uninvented techology) makes the event available as a virtual reality experience that is based upon those tens of thousands of vantage points. Such a thing could not be done without the cooperation of the people in the seats.
The only things stopping such a scenario are fast enough computers and wide enough data pipes.
Network exclusivity as we have known it is starting to circle the drain. Perhaps they can protect their franchises by enabling the above technology and wrapping it with entertaining analysis and commentary.
But if they want to do that, they're going to have to allow those tens of thousands of fans to tweet and post and stream to their personal sites with minimal restrictions.

->> Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen it.
It's written by a friend of mine who published a book last year - Taking the Shot - which featured 16 pages of my photos. Followed Davidson's miracle run. Good read if you get a chance. He's an excellent writer. Besides...I could use the royalty! |

->> I work full-time covering the Florida Gators, so I'm very interested to see how this works out.
I'd imagine that rules regarding posting of photos for personal use, by fans or media using them in online portfolios, would be addressed the same way the Syracuse/SportsShooter controversy went down a few years ago. |
