->> I covered a protest outside a congressman's office last week that was closed to the public. Our editors didn't think it was going to be a big deal and told me to "stop on my way home" and see if there was anything to it. I turned the corner onto the street the congressman's office was on and there were over 600 angry people on BOTH sides of the road. Of course since they couldn't direct their anger at the congressman who was up in his office they were more than happy to say some pretty vile and hateful things to me. I was from the "crappy newspaper" who never got anything right. I also found out to my surprise that "you work directly for Obama and are collecting our names and photos for his death squad." I was an incredibly pleasant experience (being sarcastic here). The weirdest thing about these rallies is these are usually old white people who are the one's being so caustic. But it does make me feel a little safer knowing I can outrun all of them......

->> Luke,

It certainly is an interesting statement, but as Chuck Liddy above and many others here, I covered a local health care reform town hall meeting with our Rep. , Sam Farr and his statement while seemingly racial, is still true,

Many of the angrier people at these meetings, for the one I covered too, fit that bill. I don't know why per say, but I noticed it too. There weren't any young people yelling out. It's a trend for whatever reason.

Regards,

~ nic

Just tell em that their "medicare" is being revoked and see what happens next. Or maybe you can should wear that old Che Guevara T-shirt the next time shoot one of those events.

"No sir, I'm not with the ODS, I work undercover for the office of I don't give a sh** about what you think or say; So get off my back, or I'll yank the wires from your pacemaker and take away your walker."

Who ever thought reforming our health care system could cause such bile and hate to escape from the mouths of grandparents.
