A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants should bring questions about the photography business, an appetite to learn, and cameras/lenses if they want to shoot during the demos.
This is designed to give insight, ideas, and inspiration about the photography business and it’s technical aspects for all levels of photographers, from the serious amateur wanting to improve, to established wedding, commercial, and editorial shooters or professional photojournalists who are thinking about becoming freelance.
Workshop Timeline:
8:30AM – Meet and greet, light food and beverages provided. Photographs from the presenters will be displayed around the room. Take this opportunity to look at some really great work.
9:00AM – Grover Sanschagrin of PhotoShelter – “Websites of the Future, the Future is Now” – What you need to know about SEO and taking your website to the next level. Audience Q & A to follow.
10:15 AM – Break
10:30AM – Craig Mitchelldyer – “Social Media and the Web” – How it can help (or really hurt) your business.
11:00AM – Photography Business Panel Discussion – Moderated by Tony Overman, Past President of the NPPA. With Q & A from the audience as well.

1:00PM – Lunch
2:00PM – Thomas Boyd – “Constant Improvement – Moving Your Photography Forward” – We are all competing against our own past performance and the only way to move ahead is to make a serious effort on improvement and growth. Thomas Boyd will show his work and talk about the attempts he makes to constantly grow and improve as a photographer.
3:00PM – David Bergman – David will talk about his business and show his work as an editorial photographer. He will also talk about his GigaPan photo of President Obama’s inauguration, which has been viewed over 11 million times.
4:00PM – Shooting/Lighting demo with David Bergman – David will take to the streets of Portland to give a lighting demo with Intervision, a popular Portland band. Pro Photo Supply will provide equipment for a hands-on learning experience.
Event concludes when the good light runs out.
