| ->> Has anyone here used Newswear? ( http://www.newswear.com/ ) I'm looking for a belt/harness system for my gear. I've looked at Think Tank, but wanted to hear if anyone had experiences with other systems? Thanks. |

->> I use it for my walking around kit. Best thing I've found (and I've spent almost as much as Bert on bags in my time).
What I like about it is that it puts the weight squarely on your core. You don't have to take it off to sit down is another advantage. I carry the "stuff" (batteries, CF, extender, note pads, strobe, etc) in the chestvest and a camera/lens on each shoulder.
Velcro is pretty bulletproof and noisy for a while, but other than that, it's a great system. I have the non all weather digital model.
I haven't seen the Thinktank version of the chestvest that's similar but I'm sure it would work well for you also. |

->> I have used both, and have settled on the Think Tank Skin system. It does cost a bit more than the ChestVest, but I feel the benefits far outweigh the cost difference.
The thing that makes the Skin the right system for me is that the pouches are modular, so you can put the right pockets in the right place, the silencer straps on the Velcro is genius (try opening a Velcro-ed pocket during a presser or a wedding to fish out a piece of gear and watch as everyone in the room turns to find out where the noise is coming from!), the rain covers are great (saved my butt during the rain soaked Warped Tour this summer), and the pop down feature is awesome. The only problem with the Skin is that you can carry more gear, which since you can, you will, which makes it heavier.
I ripped one of the pouches on my ChestVest which makes the whole thing pretty useless until you re-sew it or gaff it or whatever, with the Skin you can just replace the busted pouch.
Finally, since the Skin pouches are removable, you can take 'em off to use with other bags on light days or as standalone pouches on your belt when you go ultra light!
Hope this helps |

| ->> I've been using the Newswear belt and a couple of pouches for about siz months. It's a great place to keep batteries, an extender, speedlite, notepad, etc., and it's been comfortable to wear. |

->> I have the Newswear belt and four pouches as well as the Think Tank Skin kit, with 'belly dancer' and four pouches.
I'll be swapping the 'belly dancer' for the basic belt, but overall I have switched to the Think Tank Skin.
The Think Tank Skin, with belly dancer, is similar to the Newswear ChestVest, and over all I prefer the Think Tank Skin in this set up as well. |

->> I love Newswear.
After losing my Chest Vest last week, I immediately ordered another one and it arrived in 2 days-perfect timing for me to use it at the All Points West (mud and monsoon) Music Festival this past weekend |

| ->> I've been using the chest vest for almost 15 yrs, ever since former agency shooter Wesley Boxce came up with the idea in Mexico City. Me personally, I use the waterproof gore-tex model, which can be a lifesaver here in wet Fla. Using two carabiners on the front straps has made the transition to shooting video along with stills a lot easier for me. Look at Chris Morris, James Nachtway, check out the White House traveling pack next time they come thru town- and you'll see Chestvest is the way to go. |
