| ->> Anyone on Mac near San Marcos? just need someone to take a peak at my MacPro5. It seams to be lagging bad during PS and LR. It used to be blistering and now it has fallen off quite a bit. Lunch, beer cash whatever just let me know! Thanks all |

->> Do some basic maintenance checks yourself.
Is your hard drive almost full? How about your RAM? Do you have enough and is it all functioning correctly?
Under the Apple in the top left corner select About this Mac and see if the Memory line that comes up equals the amount of RAM you have installed. |

| ->> Hey thanks all. I switched over from PC two years ago to a MBP and last year sprung for a Mac Pro. Vicious little box! I used to know how to keep everything running at speed by cleaning caches and defragging. Mac has been a blessing because I have not had a single issue in two years. Except now I find it running slow for some reason. Editing pics in LR and PS used to be lighting fast now I see the ticker just about every pic. I have 8 gig of RAM on the Mac Pro2x2.8GHz Quad so it really shouldn't be lagging. I also have a tera drive for storage so I keep the factory 320 gig clear for space. I ran the Mac utilities permissions and everything came back thumbs up. |

->> Try emptying caches - especially the Adobe Camera RAW ones - that almost always does the job for me.

->> I've installed a utility called OnyX on all my Macs. You can download it at no charge.
From the distributer's website: "OnyX allows you to verify the Startup Disk and the structure of its System files, run miscellaneous tasks of system maintenance, configure some hidden parameters of the Finder, Dock, Dashboard, Exposé, Safari, Login window and some of Apple's own applications, it deletes caches, removes a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome and more."
I simply use OnyX as my (somewhat) regularly scheduled maintainance, and it keeps my Macs running smoothly. There are other apps of a similar nature, but this works so well, I've never really looked into them. Hope this helps. |

->> I'll second the use of OnyX... I run it once a week. Cleans up all sorts of stuff on my MBP. Keeps it running smoothly.
I had issues one time with slow response times (like it would take a few minutes to boot and all that)and I had to replace my hard drive. It was on it's way out. |
