Favorite Things in New Technology?

->> I was playing about with Nikon's CLS on my strobes tonight for a shoot tomorrow and was like "Hot damn, the IR triggering is really neat!"

And I have some Pocket Wizards, which are also awesome. And the high ISO capabilities of my cameras are mind blowing, I mean 25,600!

Granted I still love old cameras and films, but what are some of everyone's favorite "cool" things as camera technology advances?

->> I'm really getting into time lapses lately. I've only shot a couple so far, but I've pecked ideas into my blackberry for some more that I would love to try. I never would have even considered it pre-digital, now it's easy to get all the photos into the computer, correct things with a batch action etc.

And soundslides. I really enjoy the work that goes into creating one. Set the camera down, pick up the audio, back and forth. Its fun, I wish I had more stories around me AND the time to do them, but I just find it fascinating to shoot a photo and then a little while later a subject says something that syncs perfectly with the photo. Or vice versa, they say something interesting which leads me to think about how I would capture an image of it. It has me thinking about stories in ways I never did before. Even if I don't do a soundslide on a story I'm working on, I feel like it's made me a better story teller.

->> Have to agree with Nic. I've been impressed with CLS since the D70/D2H days; it is truly remarkable.

Another fairly recent development I like is geotagging of photos. I still do mine in software, rather than attaching a GPS receiver to my camera. But it is very cool to be able to plot your photos on a map by the location they were taken.
