| ->> Just wanted to get some opinions on this useful tool. Should I spend the extra money for the Multi-Max or save the money and get the Plus. Mostly will be using it for triggering lights but also for that occasional baseball game. Thanks. |

| ->> If you're working around other photographers who also use PW units, the Multi-Max comes in handy. It has 32 channels, where the Plus units have four. That's the biggest advantage for most people. The Multis also have a lot more features (and more being added), so they have more versatility. |

->> MM also offer zone control. So if you need to fire different lights at different times in any combination, then MM is your answer.
There are some known glitches with Plus PWs. Since they are "transievers" they can present some issues under specific instances where you are using them in conjunction with certain hardware and switches. Dedicated transmitters and receivers such as the MM can alleviate those problems.

->> I have both... and I'd say definitely the 'Max.
If you're ever going to use the Pocket Wizard for remote triggering of a camera then you have no choice --- unless you're using it for games were there are no other PW's being used.

->> Thanks guys. Basically I was trying to justify spending the extra hundred bucks per PW. Mind made up. Thanks again.

->> You can always mix and match you know. I don't own all MM's but I've got a couple and then a couple Plus that I bought for those times I needed a few extra remotes for lighting and wanted to save a little money.
Even a single MM can be a really useful addition because you can use it as an interval timer, or one of my favorite tricks for remotes and that is to set a really long contact time so a single remote trigger can fire off a long motordrive sequence. Also with its delay you can get a second curtain effect with strobes.
Really not worth $100 alone, but the fact the MM's have a LCD battery strength meter is pretty darn useful as well over the Plus. |
