Investigative Photography Workshop?

->> Many of my colleagues attend the IRE workshop every year and they all seem to get great value out of it.
With that in mind, I have a few questions for SS members:
Has anyone here has had experience with workshops that teach investigative skills for photographers?
If so, what did you find that was valuable about them?
If not, would it be something you would be interested in attending?
What sort of investigative skills do you think photographers would be able to glean from such a workshop?
I think most people will agree that the best photojournalists are not just reactive to the assignment desk, but get out there and find their own stories. I think there could be a great place in investigative reporting workshops to help develop these skills for photographers and would love to hear how you all think this could work.
