| ->> Just caught the show. Jason Jones was in Wasilla, AK, for the Sarah Palin quitting story. He was doing the Daily Show schtick, being an ass and a photographer on the riser turned around and told him he was being a prick. Which was true. Pretty funny. | ->> Save yourself a few extra minutes and go scroll to "Quitter - Leave Sarah Palin Alone" instead of just "Quitter" to see the play on media coverage to which Jack is referring (the first Quitter doesn't have that footage). |

| ->> To be honest, that guy was probably lucky nobody (in the media) clocked his ass. It might be funny to him to do that kind of stuff but I would not have been happy to have someone in that close proximity to me basically trying to start a riot against me and other members of the media. I covered several campaign events for Palin and Mccain and a couple of times it got ugly. They loved baiting the crowd and turning the media into the crowd's whipping boys. At a rally at Elon College a sound guy for one of the networks got hit in the head with a rock by a Palin supporter because he obviously felt it was okay to do that since the TV guy was in front of him on the press riser. Let's not forget the fact that the moron picked that spot to stand (behind the riser). The only thing more pathetic than the way this Jason Jones was "acting" were the people he interviewed who were too stupid to realize he was making idiots out of them. |

| ->> I did see that on the Daily Show Last night. That was seriously funny, but maybe some in the media didn't know that it was a schtick. Maybe the poor photog in that clip didn't know it was a joke,as Jason Jones did look quite serious during the routine ! The fact that a TV camera was pointed on both of them mind you, the P*&%K remark may not have been the best response to use. They didn't blur his face though so maybe it was part of the act ? |

Actually (for Accuracy)the event took place in Fairbanks Alaska at Pioneer Park formerly known as Alaskaland as it was called when I grew up there. |

| ->> Yup, Brad, I've seen it. I guess you didn't get MY point. Just because a tv show decided to do a riff on the Britney video (yup seen that also) doesn't excuse a guy acting like a jackass IN the media area while other people are actually working. I'm just saying he was lucky he was in Alaska, I've been in some places where he would have got his ass kicked for screwing with people when they are working. That or security would have drug him off. But of course we all know the story about the almost former Gov's security in Alaska. She had State Troopers ban the largest newspaper in Alaska AND the AP from her "quitter" news conference. So why would they stop a guy from trying to incite the crowd against the media. It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. So, it begs the question. If you were shooting a press conference or event inside the media area and some jackleg decided to start screwing with you you'd blow it off? Yikes! |

->> OK, Chuck, follow up question - have you ever been to Alaska? Because if Jason Jones didn't get his ass kicked there, on Palin's home turf, I can't really think of anyplace where she would.
Actually, instead of blowing off Jason Jones, I'd probably start photographing him. Hell, he's way more interesting than Palin, anyway. I thought it was funny. If some other member of the media wanted to kick his ass, well, I guess he probably had it coming and I'd probably shoot that, too. |

| ->> Chuck, I am sure the media was in on what he was doing, in other clips all the photographers and camera guys were biting back there laughs. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if those clips were timed when she wasn't even on stage as to not interfere with them catching important stuff. The power of editing! |

| ->> Scott, hadn't thought of that. That makes sense. Yeah, Brad, been to Alaska, what's your point? Although he was mocking Palin, apparently the followers of of her highness weren't smart enough to get the joke. Which is painfully obvious from some of the "interviews. Need any more answers? 8) |

->> I'm amazed that it seems as though nobody in Alaska has seen the Daily Show and its "correspondents". It looked as though he was doing his rant after the event while the crews and photogs were breaking down.
"apparently the followers of of her highness weren't smart enough to get the joke"
That's the joke. |

->> Chuck, I'm not tryin' to be a jerk here. I guess I wish ya would just lighten up a little. It was pretty obvious that Jones did most of his stuff when Palin wasn't even on stage. In one of the clips it's obvious the videographers were breaking down, and when he was talking to the still photographer most of the seats were empty, so it was probably well after the speech. It looked like only a few things were done during the speech, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were really careful to limit what they did at that time so they didn't get kicked out. These guys are pros.
Anyway, if I had to go through the agony of covering ANOTHER political speech (especially one from Palin) and The Daily Show showed up, well, I'd think that was pretty cool, even if they were "harping" on the media.
As for "the followers of of her highness weren't smart enough to get the joke," well, that's the beauty of the Daily Show. But what was even more sad was the fact that there were several members of the MEDIA who weren't smart enough to get the joke.
Anyway, the Daily Show isn't the only one having fun with Palin's speech...
