->> Rick,
Getting a card in less than six weeks would be an event of Biblical proportion. |

->> Rick,
I would have to say anywhere from 4-6 weeks ... minimum. |

| ->> They are very nice at NPS. I am guessing their staffing has been cut a bit. Three weeks is a bit short for them. Give them another week or two and then send am email asking for a status. If you are nice about it, they just push your through and tell you they were swamped - which I am betting they are. If you really need something in a pinch send them an email letting them know you needed a loaner. They will probably work it out. Good luck. |

| ->> NPS is definitely top seed in professional organization. Quality people who care about their members. They'll answer anything you have to ask. |

| ->> They sure took care of me on this 80-200 lens problem. Fixed it fast, reasonably priced for all they did and I had a 70-200 vr loaner right away. AWESOME! |

->> Rick--
My membership had also lapsed for years (let's call those the Canon years) and I thought I had to apply for a new membership (mailed-in the forms and current clips and had a sponsor to vouch for me), which I did last December.
Six months later I was cleaning out old emails and realized I had never heard back from NPS. I sent another email. This time Carrie Askinas with NPS replied and she took the bull by the horns. In about two hours time (some of that was my own delay in replying to her replies) she put the wheels in motion to renew my previous membership.
Contact Carrie Askinas at NPS and I'll bet you get an answer fairly quick.

->> Funny, I've been trying to renew my membership in another company's "professional services" organization ...
After getting an initial email about confirming the info submitted, the contact at this "professional services" organization has not replied to about a half dozen emails and 4 or 5 voice mails in the past three months...
Service?
Right. |

| ->> These services are getting swamped. People who never cared about membership in either CPS or NPS because repairs, loaners etc. were handled by their employer are now finding themselves self employed. All of a sudden getting a loaner while something is in repair matters. So does finding a source for a 'free' 600 rather than renting or getting something back from repair in under a month. The shakeout of the media has impacted everyone and in ways that weren't expected. |

->> Ive dealt with the staff at NPS over the past few days and they're great to work with.
I've had nothing but great experiences with NPS, dating back to when i borrowed a sound trigger (and a 500!) from Scott Andrews out at KSC before he switched to CPS.
I've been able to evaluate most every lens I've wanted to from NPS without a problem. On the other hand, I'm not always begging and pleading to borrow stuff constantly. |

->> Canon is a far larger corporation than Nikon. Perhaps this is why Nikon has always been more hands-on with the PJ community than has Canon.
With the exception of the great Chuck Westfall, of course.

->> Robert,
Maybe you don't own the right amount of gear from that other brand, which seems to be the main requirement to join their club ;)
My Retired engineer buddy joined and he makes his living of his retirement checks, he makes ZERO form Photography!! But he owns lots of gear from that Brand, LOTS of good toys!! |

->> Actually it was approved (via USA TODAY staff acct.) and they never sent the confirmation email... repeated calls and emails have been basically ignored. Zero response.
No big deal, just added this because others had emailed me about similar issues.
I am sure they are really busy and haven't the time. No biggie.
'Nuff Said! |
