Do you know a good place to get a portfolio printed?

->> I'm looking for a good and not too expensive place to get my portfolio printed.

What places do you recommend?

Thanks!

->> Blurb is hit or miss. They have multiple presses and some pump out really nice looking books, and sometimes you get a book you wouldn't want representing your work.

For a good portfolio I think it's still worth it to do a screw post and have photographic prints made from somewhere like White House Custom Color, or print on a good ink jet.
It looks much nicer, to me at least.

->> Peter/Steven: I'm sure mileage and experiences of others may have vary, but the print quality of every Blurb book I've ordered has been great. I've had 39 books printed so far this year, half that number last year - everyone of them looked outstanding.

For more versatility, Peter's suggestion is an excellent one as well. Invest in a Epson R1900 or comparable quality printer inkjet printer and make your own prints. The quality will be more than acceptable once you get your color profiles in line and you can tailor your portfolio presentation to each specific client or interview.

->> Blurb has a new "B3" program for pros who need higher quality than the standard Blurb books. When you order a book through B3, the book is printed from the same printer every time you order a copy and it also lets you use ICC profiles to proof your images. That being said, I've always had good results from Blurb, and the one time there was a printing error, it was fixed no questions asked and shipped next day air. Blurb is a great deal, IMO.

->> I've been printing iphoto ibooks now for the last couple of years with 300+ books done. I use them for my portfolio plus I run a dozen off after a movie for cast/ producers etc.

The quality has been great and one of the largest runs was 100 books but 20 or so at a time. The color/quality between each run was perfect.

The cost per book has been between $25 and 45 per book depending on the amount of pages. There are prob alot of others that work well but for me, the combination of price, speed, quality and the total ease of using it from iphoto keeps me coming back.

Any places you recommend to do the screw post?
