->> I heard about a gas line rupture at a construction site here in town recently and went out to see if there was anything to it. Fortunately, the rupture. which occurred during construction of a roundabout, was not serious.
I got a run of the mill shot of the scene using my 80-200 and went back to the office and worked the image up for publication. I choose this shot initially which I liked the best until I saw something that nearly slipped through. Had this been published, well, the conservative ghosts of this area would have revolted.

->> Haha. We have that issue at our paper from time to time. Once the local college team went to nationals and when I was trying to fix the badly framed slightly tilted badly toned with zero moment photo of the team near the dugout they sent us, I noticed the photo had not one but TWO crotch grabs in it. It was too close to deadline to ask for another. I was able to crop one out.
This one I got over two years ago has always been my personal favorite...

My all time favorite slip, however... when I was on vacation in California earlier this month, I bought a nice scenic silhouetted beach sunset postcard to send to my grandparents, as they like those sorts of things. Back in the hotel room before I filled it out, I noticed in the bottom right corner, there is a little tiny silhouette man walking his tiny silhouette dog. Except the dog isn't walking, it's taking a tiny silhouette dump. Guess the photographer was too dazzled by the pretty clouds to notice and crop it out. Either that or they had a great sense of humor. |

->> Usually I delete or leave these unprocessed, but a fellow shooter got a very nice shot of the goalie so I had to show my not so nice shot - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1178973&l=894d6972ab&id=570008206
(I'm not sure if the tagging is visible or not when it is public view, but for the record I did not tag the player (apparently he's kept it) or the action. Both were done by one of his teammates). |

->> A local high school girls soccer team this spring had a key game against their archrival, Hebron High School. A number of the girls wore wrist bands creatively labeled "Huck Febron", a fact that I missed when I submitted photos to the editor. See: http://ghdunn.smugmug.com/gallery/7568630_D5irw#489150425_pHLZ6-X3-LB . The plan was to use a large version of one of the photos on the first page of the sports section.
Fortunately, I noticed the inscription before it was too late and certain photos were removed from consideration.... |
