->> My father had to send in his camera for a stuck-lens removal. The phone tech gave him an address for a Canon Factory Service center in Virginia. I though surely that he was mistaken (isn't their call center in VA?) but he forwarded the email, and yep...
Is this new? Is the 'old' one in NJ gone? And will all my CPS Repair coupons be invalid? |

->> I believe like a lot of businesses...
There are "Factory Service Centers" and "Authorized Repair Centers".
The factory service centers are Canon's repair facilities. I think there are two, Jamesburg, NJ and Irvine, CA.
The authorized repair centers are 3rd party companies that have received some sort of approval from Canon to work on its gear. There is probably a list on the Canon, USA site.
Call Canon, USA to find out the difference. |

| ->> If the camera is a point and shoot, it is probably going to a 3rd party contractor. Best Buy used one or two East Coast sites to do all their P/S repairs because the parts are more easily accessible. SLRs usually go to the company itself. |

| ->> This facility is a factory service center. Canon had me send my Mark III's for the focus recall to Virginia. |

->> It was a D Rebel XTi, so I didn't think it would go to a third party.
Thanks for the link Duane. :) |
