->> A voice of several generations has left us. I remember his voice and grandfatherly demeanor every night at 6:30, and was the soundtrack for the space program. Ther will never be a newsman like him again.

->> I had the good fortune to meet him years ago in the Leica Gallery in Manhattan. We talked for a few minutes, and because of my awe I have completely forgotten what we talked about. I remember is gravely voice and easy smile. As a model for young journalists you couldn't ask for anyone better.

His straightforward style should be emulated by more journalists today instead of the shouty, look-at-me style used by many journalists (and photojournalists today).
