Want a deal on 2009 MLB All Star Photos?

->> So what are they doing, stealing from AP, Getty and so forth?
Just wondering how the heck they could steal so many images so quickly?

->> The entire Getty database is compromised by a proliferation of people who have "passwords" and have immediate access to any and all images on the Getty web site.

Not only is this a huge problem for Getty, but any photographer who contributes to Getty is just asking for their images to be stolen with the lack of checks and balances regarding when/where images are going.

->> I've heard from people in the autograph/collectibles community that it's quite easy to get into the Getty database. He said he reported it to Getty once and was met with indifference from the person he contacted.

->> Just wondering....whose job is it to protect these images and seek payment for misuse? If you assume the photographer signed away the rights (not judging, just assuming) then they would have no claim. So is it up to the photo service? The league?

Seems like they would care since it's potential lost sales. Or are they only interested in major commercial uses/misuses of the images?

->> It is amazing to me that Getty has not done more to prevent this. A photographer who uploads photos to the Getty server does not need to have the ability to download other people's photos from the server. This seems like a relatively easy problem to fix.
