->> Anyone watching Le Tour de France? I've been thoroughly enjoying the photos coming in from various photographers covering the race. The tour just wrapped up stage 7 of week one today so here are some photos from BBC recapping week one.

| ->> By the way, I felt so bad for Cavendish this morning watching him struggle and eventually fall of the back of the peloton. That must be one of the worst feelings in all of sports knowing you have that far to go, that high to climb and you certainly wont be wearing the yellow jersey the following day. |

| ->> Cavendish is wearing the green jersey (Sprinter), and he'll get to keep it even with falling off the back of the peloton. But still that must be the ride from hell all by yourself with no one to help pull you up the hills. The tour is on every night in our house, hubby used to race. :) |

->> I don't feel bad for Cavendish....normally he's punishing everyone else in a 200m sprint to the finish line.
For all you pro circuit fans, take a look at this:

Those videos are amazing - looks like they were shot with the Red One - the resolution is incredible. Thanks for the link. |

->> It seems a few people are writing 'Cavendish' but instead are talking about Cancellera.
Cancellara had the yellow going into the mountains but was dropped on the climb by the pace set by Astana. |

->> By the way, I didnt mean Cavendish...I mean Cancellara. My head was thinking C and the wrong name came out. Watching Cancellara drop off the back was sad.
I think my favorite part of watching the tour is the helicopter shots of the countryside and mountains. Its like a private tour of France :) |

->> Wow, my hat goes off to Brent of projectletour.com
Especially the final image in the gallery (#55) of Contador in the rain with strobes.
I know what a nightmare the Tour can be to shoot, even without lugging around all that lighting gear. And the guy was able to make it look like an advert, as if he'd had 2 hours to make the shot *just* right when he really probably only had less than 2 seconds. Great shot.
Well done. |

->> Contador is obviously the strongest rider on Astana and his attacks were basically preemptive strikes to assure that the teams orders were to protect him and keep him in yellow. He left no opportunity for their to be any issues on the road since Bruynell favors Lance and his relationship with Lance over Contador.
The announcement is that Lance will ride for Team Radio Shack |

| ->> Contador's attack dropped Kloden and isolated himself with two rival teammates, potentially putting himself at risk for attack. Not a very intelligent move! Bruyneel is one of, if not the smartest directors currently in the peloton. Although his heart is with Armstrong, he is also very ambitious. I think in the end his ultimate goal is for an Astana rider, any Astana rider to stand on the top step of the podium in Paris. |

->> The one thing about the Tour that I love is that it is a team race but at the same time it is a individual race. Contador did what he thought he had to do to put himself in the yellow, if it means he dropped Lance well then let it be. If Lance is truly the stronger rider than Lance will arrive in Paris wearing the yellow.
I've always rooted for Lance since day 1 of his first tour but in the end the best rider shall win |

| ->> What Contador did was drop his teammates and instead of having an all Astanta podium, there MIGHT be Armstrong in third with him and has left himself open for attack. I don't respect riders like that. He is the strongest rider for sure but he acted like an ass. |

->> Not a huge Contador fan but I knew at the start of the Tour nobody was going to touch him and I was fine with it. After what he did to Kloden I hope karma rears it's ugly head and strikes him. He had nothing to gain by attacking the Schleks. They had given up on winning the tour and were only trying to put time on there competitors for the podium. Wiggens was Contadors only competition before the TT and he was putting time on him without having to waste a lot of energy before the TT.
Instead of helping your teammate to a potential stage win and podium appearance you attack and expose yourself as the selfish bastard that you are. Congratulations on your win. |
