->> Our editor wants us to have video from the Steve Mcnair funeral tomm. The problem is that the only video camera being allowed in is a Pool Video camera which is going to be outputing to BNC and XLR. Unless somebody has a sat truck sitting around I am out of ideas. Our video deck theoretically would work for the video but then we would have to convert XLR to RCA and would only be mono sound.

->> Matt,
Check out a local Guitar Center - XLR to two RCA isn't so strange. They should have the parts on hand.
OR find a band with a sound guy that will "rent" you one for the day. |

->> Musician's Friend is not just a clever name. I have been buying gear from these guys for a very long time and I have not had any problems. They are located in the west coast, so you still have a few hours to place an order for overnight shipping. Any music store in your area that markets to bands should have something similar if you have time to get to one.
Here is a link to a page that has some of the items you might need (XRL to RCA cables / adapters).

If shipping this overnight is not quick enough for your event, Dave's idea of checking with a band's soundman is a good one. |

Musician's Friend is the on-line part of Guitar Center. |

| ->> Thanks guys ! Got everything I need to hook up the deck to the box. We just got news that were being shut out of the ceremony and that their is only going to be one pool photographer let inside.... contrary to what my credential and the past media advisory said....... so looks like I am a deck jockey tomm. |

->> Matthew,
Make sure you know whether the pool box is feeding you line or mic level. Many pool feeds output mic level because the TV guys just XLR straight into the mic input of their cameras - or they use a wireless cube and plug it straight into the mult. If it's line level you should be fine and your setup will probably work. If it's mic level it gets a bit trickier - particularly if you're using a record deck without a mic level input.
You also need to know about termination issues with the video feed (whether you need to provide a terminator or not).
Make friends with some of the local TV guys because they can be very helpful in situations like this. |
