->> I spent some time yesterday chatting with Zack Arias about his amazing "Transform" video, Social marketing, keeping it all in perspective, and some gear-geek talk as well.

As I say at one point, in this interview: Courage is sometimes saying what many others feel but cannot or will not find the words or means to express. I think Zack Arias hit that nail square on the head with Transform.
I try to keep my promotional posts on Sportsshooter to content I know will resonate with this audience, and I'm pretty sure most folks on this board will get a lot out of this podcast. Let me know what you think of this conversation. |

->> I have known of Zack before I ever met him. Gary Meek, a photographer I used to work with at Georgia Tech, was one of the judges for a student contest. I don't remember if I was judging with him or not, but I do remember seeing the photos with Gary of Zack. He won the student photographer of the year.
Later I met up with Zack when he returned to Atlanta and was working at Kinkos. I was laying some floor in my house and figured I use some help. So, Zack helped me lay the floor in my house.
I have always enjoyed the honesty and the heart of Zack. I think Zack is one of just a few of the people I know that are transparent and real as he can be.
The key to Zack's success is finding his niche and realizing where a lot of photographers already are is a much more difficult path than choosing the one less traveled.
His rags to riches is more about hating what you do for a living to doing what you love for a living.
I recommend anyone starting out to take his workshops. The best reason is his honesty about how hard it is to make it. Zack wasn't a great photographer who just needed a break. He is a passionate photographer who through a lot of sweat and tears has a full-time career as a photographer.
He never claims to be an expert. He will tell you what he has done to make it with honesty. |
