The importance of keeping your copyright

->> Hi All,
I am not one to say that people should cash in on negative situations, but the recent deaths of a few high profile celebrities (Michael Jackson, David Carradine, Farah Faucet, Steve McNair and so on) only reminds me of the importance of protecting the copyright of your photographs.
Obviously, this is not always possible depending on the agency/paper you are working for. But where it is, you must keep it.
Case in point, Michael Jackson died. You have some awesome shots of him on the Thriller tour. YOU own the copyright! You may freely sell these images, making money from photographs you long forgot about which were collecting dust in your negative cabinet!
Think of your future...so many shooters today are careless with their copyrights at times, but you may be throwing away something much more valuable than your 401(k) or RRSP's!
Have a good Sunday!
Tim in Montreal!
