Mac 10.5.7 update- now problems waking up
Ben Liu, Photographer

->> I updated my Macbook Pro to 10.5.7 last night, from 10.5.6... and now every time I close the lid to put the computer to sleep, it won't wake it.

After doing some research, it seems that this is a bug that many 10.5.7 users are experiencing.

Has anyone here encountered this? Any solutions? Please do not say restore to previous version... I know how to do that, and I will as a last resort.... but I want to see if there is a solution first.

Thanks

->> Hi Ben:

Don't know if any of these suggestions will help. One is to download the Combo Updater from Apple and re-apply.

Apple's online forum has a thread on this.

On one tip there is that if you have Application Enhancer installed, it may cause the problem. Remove it or see if there is an update.

Try putting the computer to sleep using the software by hitting the Power Button or going to the Apple and hitting Sleep.

Try starting from an external disc like the System DVD and running disc utility- perform Disk Repair and Repair Permissions.

Let us know how it goes!

Best regards,
Rich

Is there no one else experiencing this?

->> I was experiencing the same problem. Tried a couple fixes I found online, but could never really get the computer working right. It would often not wake from sleep or I would get nothing on the screen while still hearing audio.

I just started from scratch this weekend. Erased everything and reinstalled OSX then ran software update. Everything seems to be working well so far.

->> It is most likely a corrupt Energy Saver preference. Try doing a Safe Boot.

If that doesn't work, try using a different user account. If it fixes the problem, you know it is a problem with the individual user account and not the System.
