->> OK, this was an interesting read. First, I agreed with the assessment about local articles being journalism at it's best - uncovering local government corruption. What is interesting to me though was the rest of the article and readers comments about it.

->> Connie Schultz is an unabashed advocate for the free press ... as it were. She did a great piece last year on the efforts to overturn the Dover photo ban and the NPPA's involvement. She is also married to a liberal democratic senator, hence the unabashed bashing of her as a liberally biased hack ...
Her points are good ones. Unfortunately they are lost on some who would rather see black helicopters everywhere and nurse paranoid tendencies.
The reality may be that newspapers and daily local journalism may have to die before enough people realize that there is a difference between Keith Olberman/Sean Hannity and your local newspaper. |

->> Sean, thanks for the background information. As for those folks who are evidently not in favor of a free and independent press, they are entitled to voice their opinion, no matter how idiotic I think it is.
I'm amazed they have time to write. I was sure they'd be busy checking for communists and fellow travelers under every bed. |
